A Black Bag, Emiree’ Sexton’s first official project starts with New Orleans, Louisiana.
A Black bag consist of two blurred hand picked family photos from an old home photo album that captures the true feeling and importance of black community and family while also serving as an analogy to highlight the baggage and trauma that black people knowing and unknowingly carry through life.
The blurred design translates into a “template”. It’s the framework of a memory that isn’t subjective to one person. It can remind many individuals of a time, a place, a sound, a smell, a person. These pictures capture moments that the vast majority of the African American culture can relate to.
